Couples Therapy

Helping Relationships Work Again

Couples often struggle with a break-down in communication, an increase in conflict and a loss of intimacy and connection. The stresses of day to day life (from the demands of work to the challenge of raising children) can take a toll on relationships. Moreover, modern life often intrudes into relationships.  Social networking, the internet and other intrusions present couples with challenges that earlier generations did not face.

Therapy can help couples who are struggling to maintain their relationships. My approach to working with couples is problem focused and direct. My approach emphasizes: identifying problems and clarifying goals; quickly recommending specific strategies to begin to solve problems; following up and fine tuning these strategies; and working to stop destructive patterns of arguing and blaming that exacerbate problems. I also systematically solicit your feedback in order to fine tune my efforts and improve the effectiveness of therapy.
